PRODUCT CARE

Proper care ensures your Apex gear performs at its best for years to come.

GET THE MOST FROM YOUR GEAR

Your Apex Gym Clothing apparel is crafted with premium materials and innovative technology. Follow these care instructions to maintain fabric performance, preserve colors, and extend the life of each piece.

Quality Materials

Our TechFlex and DuraStretch fabrics are engineered for performance, but proper care ensures they maintain their properties through countless workouts.

Extended Lifespan

Following our care guidelines can double the lifespan of your athletic wear, making your investment go further while reducing environmental impact.

Optimal Performance

Proper care maintains moisture-wicking properties, stretch recovery, and odor resistance so your gear performs as well on day 100 as it did on day 1.

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS

Follow these guidelines for washing your Apex gear to maintain fabric integrity and performance features.

01

Sort & Prepare

Turn garments inside out before washing. This protects printed designs and exterior fabric while allowing the washing process to focus on the areas that contact your skin. Separate light and dark colors, and close all zippers and hook-and-loop fasteners to prevent snagging.

02

Machine Settings

Use cold water (30°C/85°F or below) on a gentle cycle. Cold water preserves colors and elastic properties while being more energy-efficient. The gentle cycle reduces friction that can break down technical fibers.

03

Detergent Selection

Use mild, liquid detergent without fabric softeners or bleach. Fabric softeners coat fibers and reduce moisture-wicking properties, while bleach breaks down technical fabrics. We recommend sport-specific detergents designed for activewear for optimal results.

04

Drying Method

Air dry your Apex gear whenever possible. Hang items on a drying rack or lay flat to preserve shape and fabric integrity. If you must use a dryer, use the lowest heat setting or tumble dry setting to minimize heat exposure, which can break down elastic fibers.

05

Storage

Store clean, dry garments in a drawer or on a hanger. Avoid folding compression garments along the same lines repeatedly to prevent permanent creasing. For seasonal storage, ensure items are completely clean and dry to prevent mildew growth.

FABRIC-SPECIFIC CARE

Different fabrics require specific care approaches. Follow these guidelines for our signature materials.

TechFlex Materials

  • Do not use fabric softeners - They clog the microfibers that wick moisture
  • Avoid high heat - Heat can damage the elastane components that provide stretch
  • Wash after each use - Prevents body oils from degrading the fabric over time
  • Avoid contact with velcro - The hooks can catch and pull TechFlex fibers
  • Do not iron - Apply light steam if wrinkles occur, keeping iron away from fabric
Used in: Performance Leggings, Training Tops

DuraStretch Materials

  • Wash with similar colors - DuraStretch can absorb dyes from darker items
  • Remove promptly from washer - Prevents color transfer and reduces wrinkles
  • Avoid rough surfaces - While durable, abrasion can affect the outer finish
  • Do not bleach - Bleach weakens the core fibers of DuraStretch fabrics
  • Reshape while damp - Helps maintain the garment's intended fit and structure
Used in: Training Shorts, Performance Jackets

EXTENDING PRODUCT LIFE

Follow these expert tips to make your Apex Athletics gear last longer and perform better.

Rotate Your Gear

Having multiple workout outfits and rotating them gives each garment time to fully recover its shape and elasticity between uses. We recommend having at least 3-4 sets of your most-used items to extend their overall lifespan.

Rinse After Sweaty Workouts

If you can't wash your gear immediately after a workout, rinse it in cold water to remove sweat and body oils. These substances can break down elastic fibers and cause odors to set in when left to dry. A quick rinse goes a long way in preserving fabric integrity.

Use a Mesh Laundry Bag

Placing your Apex gear in mesh laundry bags before washing provides an extra layer of protection against friction, snagging, and stretching during the wash cycle. This is especially important for delicate items like sports bras and compression garments.

Avoid Direct Sunlight When Drying

While air-drying is recommended, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can fade colors and degrade elastic fibers. Dry your gear in a shaded, well-ventilated area to preserve color vibrancy and material integrity.

Pack Properly When Traveling

When packing your Apex gear for travel, roll rather than fold to minimize creasing. For compression garments, lay them flat at the top of your luggage. Use a separate bag for sweaty gear after workouts to protect your clean clothes.

Always check the specific care label on each Apex Athletics product for the most accurate care instructions.

COMMON QUESTIONS

We recommend washing your workout gear after each use. Sweat, body oils, and bacteria can break down fabric fibers and cause permanent odors if left unwashed. If washing after each use isn't possible, at minimum rinse your gear thoroughly in cold water and hang to dry until you can properly wash it.

For optimal results, use a mild detergent specifically designed for technical fabrics and activewear. These detergents are formulated to remove embedded oils and odors while protecting the performance properties of the fabric. Avoid detergents with fabric softeners, bleach, or strong fragrances, as these can damage performance features and trap odors in the fabric.

To eliminate stubborn odors, pre-soak your gear in a solution of one part white vinegar to four parts cold water for 15-30 minutes before washing. Alternatively, add a half cup of baking soda to your wash cycle. Both options help neutralize odors without damaging fabrics. For persistent odors, enzyme-based sport detergents can break down the proteins causing the smell.

Compression loss typically occurs due to heat exposure (high-temperature washing or drying), using fabric softeners, or overstretching. To restore some compression, wash in cold water and let the garment rest unworn for 24-48 hours. For future purchases, consider rotating between multiple pairs to give the elastane fibers recovery time between wears.

We strongly advise against ironing our performance apparel. The synthetic fibers and elastane in our fabrics can melt or become permanently damaged with direct heat application. If your gear has wrinkles, hang it in a steamy bathroom or use a garment steamer on the lowest setting, keeping the steamer at least 6 inches away from the fabric. Most wrinkles will naturally release when worn.
